GANESH CHATURTI ALSO MEANS HAVING LOTS OF “UKADICHE MODAK” WHICH IS A MAHARASHTRIAN DELICACY AND WHICH ARE PREPARED IN MANY HOUSEHOLDS ON GANESH CHATURTI DAY.

LET ME GIVE YOU THE RECIPE…..

INGREDIENTSFor the Outer Covering 1 cup rice flour1 cup water

1 tsp gheeSalt a little

Boil 1 cup of water. Add ghee, salt and oil and immediately add rice flour. Stir well. Cover for some time. Remove from heat. Take all the mixture in a flat plate. Knead it properly while hot and form into a kneaded dough ball.

For The Filling Fresh Coconut—2 cups
Jaggery —1 cup
Cinnamon

METHOD:Mix together all the above ingredients and mix till they come together.

FOR THE MODAKSDivide this dough into small balls. Roll each ball into small puri like circlesHold it in a hand and make a small bowl of it. Put some coconut filling into this bowl shaped dough . Then bring the edges together and form a peak.Steam the ready modaks in a steamer for about 20 mins.ENJOY!!!! you can have them with ghee by cutting them into half.

IN GOA MODAKS ARE MADE OF PURAN WHICH IS THE CHANADAL AND JAGGERY FILLING AND THE COVERING IS MADE OF WHEAT FLOUR.
