Here are some pictures that I had clicked when I visited Goa some time back…

Its been a very long time since I have done something creative , I just dont get the urge to create something , all my available free time is spent reading other blogs and being happy with what others are creating and sharing .

But a few days back I got this above picture from a blog and decided to do something with it….for my own self to keep and display on my dressing table.. I love vintage pictures and prints and I was thinking of using these free prints in something that I can get the pleasure using or looking at…

I had some planks of cut plywood pieces lying around .. so I took this piece which was if the right size suitable for the picture which I had printed (  we have to go to a special printing press for printing clear pictures on paper so it is effort itself to print one single picture but the effort which is enjoyable)

I painted this piece of wood with  paint which can also be used for fabric too..I then used modge podge  to stick the picture over the wood.

Its looks so wonderful beside my bed side I havent framed it as like it looking rustic as it is… pstttt…

did you notice the new bedspread which I am using under the picture? It has got that lovely vintage lookl.

We can get someone to help us for almost all the jobs that are done around the house…and it so happened that my maid  of 6 years suddenly decided that she did not want to continue working and would take a break for sometime ..(I feel that she must have made some other plans as its not possible for a person to leave her job and just sit at home with the cost of living going sky high here in India.)

I came across such a situation for the first time when I did not have absolutely anyone to help me and I had to do everything alone. Those staying in India know that its difficult here with the pollution and the dust to keep the house clean without it being moped and dusted for even a single day. And this made me think that the one who comes to your house to do your job is their only because of what you pay them and not because they love doing it .. and hence they do not think twice before making other plans . but we who love our homes so much are so dependent on them , which should change we should become self reliant . This was a great lesson which I learnt the hard way…as I was thrown off guard and was not physically and mentally prepared for such a situation ..

but there are some great blogs which I read,which  where of  great help to me , they helped me understand the meaning of doing your house work on your own.. It changed my mind set towards things…one such blog is www.homeliving.blogspot.com its a real boon for homemakers who fall in a situation where they have to do everything on their own…

I always enjoyed cleaning dishes and other kitchen items and used to wash them myself even when I had a maid come in and do them everyday  , I love the look of  clean vessels in my draining basket ….

I also learnt that its awful to be dependent on others for your daily work and that they don’t care for how your house looks or how the work is done as long as they get paid at the end of the month ..

I also saw that when we do these things we do them much better than them and that we put in a lot of love into doing it…

I always thought that it would be so frustrating if my maid left the job for some reason and how I would be able to manage without her… but time and this lesson has taught me that although a little frustrating in the beginning you enjoy doing things independently you don’t have to wait for her to come and do the job you do the things yourself as they are required to be done ,you become your own master and the home is in your control….

I am sure Indians will understand what I feel because its the same situation all over the place … Where we feel helpless when our domestic help does not come for even a single day….

Making the bed, changing bedspreads and pillow covers is something I love . I love the feel of fresh and clean pillow covers…

I love decorating my home within my budget , I love to make small changes in my house which bring about a fresh look.

Doing these extra things has helped me in keeping myself mentally occupied which is good for ones mental wellbeing..

And so the change and the new rhythm is not bad at all….

Today day is my wedding anniversary day….and so did a lot of cooking the whole day…

My day started with packing my son’s tiffin which is by daily routine now..

I have to get up at 6.00 am in the morning and cook fresh stuff for my son’s tiffin or lunch box. I prefer to make things fresh in the morning as  our weather conditions are not conducive for our food items which do not remain fresh for a long time plus my son does not have the facility of using a microwave in the college and has to eat his food cold and so  a lot of planning goes into making his tiffin box and try not to make items which become or taste yucky!!!!! when cold

YEY!!!! and I am right now in that frame of mind since yesterday  morning I have been doing many nooks and corners of my home which i had not touched for a couple of months and they look as though they they have not been touched for a longer peroid of time…

I did a drawer today where we keep our extra mattresses and also many other things.

Kids are becoming quite smart and are learning things on their own , they love to experiment and develop themselves . It’s amazing to see how time changes…

I would love to know what your kids do that amazes you ….

The only advantage that we have in India is that we get our house painting done and do not have to do it ourselves so, that’s a great relief.

There is a mess all around with one bedroom and the kitchen for us (lots of dust in the room as our kitchen does not have a door)

But I am also enjoying the different feeling that you get when you eat in another place (I am of the type who loves change and so eating in the bedroom with our plates on our lap is something different from out regular , formal sitting on the dining table) It gives a picnic feel ….
